I recently sold my LDC-3 pre fazor & Deckard because I plan on travelling again for several months and am working towards making it a lifestyle. Absolutely loved the sound profile.

I think my preferred sound profile for Jazz maches very closely with this - http://www.head-fi.org/t/777266/best-headphones-for-jazz.

Notably

- Honey and warmth.

- Purity and air.

- Intimacy.

I don't consider myself an especially discerning listener. I can't tell the difference between Spotify Premium & Tidal. Or (much) difference between using/not using a portable Codec/AMP & just much computer or phone. I'm not sure that accuracy matters so much as sound profile.

Pre LCD-3's I owned the HD 598 then later the HD 600. And those were what sent me down the Jazz road - loved both of them.

The TH-X00 just feels like bass is being added where it shouldn't be where I'd rather be hearing the details from the instruments (strings plucking, left over air on the trumpet, etc.)

Any ideas on where to start?

Edit: Sennheiser Electronics IE80 & IE800 both caught my eye. It looks like I can pick up some used IE800's for around $450 or IE80's for $180

I have no suggestions on an IEM, but good luck on this plan!  I'm hoping to do the same within a year. Say goodbye to the rat-race....and travel. That's one reason I just bought a FiiO X1 1st gen.

Awesome!  Where do you plan on going?

I'm in the process of picking between India & Bulgaria & Montenegro

Dn2000. Best jazz specialist from the bunch I've tried/owned. Does vocals and instruments right. Not the airy-est, though I am not sure an IEM can be airy and also tick most boxes you've mentioned haha. Not the warmest. the speed and control is just about right! Really impressive technically but musical. Least compromise. :)

Warm, lush, honey...for Jazz, I would suggest the Cardas EM5813. They take a bit to get used if you're coming from anything bright, but once you've acclimatized to their sound, you'll find details galore and music will draw you in.

Easy to drive, Cardas Clear cabling and sub-$400.

Give them a try if you're able. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Any opinions on the Audeze Isine10 / 20 models?

It looks like they might have a bigger soundstage than most in ear monitors. And obviously I'd assume they have a similar signature to the Audeze / LCD brand. But I've been reading a lot good about both the Cardas EM5813 & Ibasso it03

the isines are vented, so you'll get a really open soundstage. not sure how that'll affect isolation/leakage.

let me know if you still find them specific cardas iems...I think they are a bit on the rare side.
