Hi,
I am currently using the G5's DVD drive as my main music source, connected to the 508PA's amp (http://www.eclipse-td.com/e06_508/index.html) via an iChord cable (http://www.chord.co.uk/chordweb/ichord.htm). I have recently plumped for a pair of Beyerdynamic DT990 to use for digital video editing, as well as music & DVDs.
I am considering purchasing a Stereo-Link SL1200 because of the following characteristics:
1. It is a DAC (with analogue out) & headphone amp so it suits my needs well
2. The headphone socket is located on the front, whilst the analogue outputs are on the back of the unit, so it will not be an eyesore on my desk
3. It costs 150 Euros
My main driver is sound quality though, so I'd appreciate some advice from you all.
Qs:
Favourable or unfavourable experiences of the SL1200?
Are there any other products that will meet my requirements in the same price bracket?
Are there any audiophile small form factor CD/DVD sources (with a headphone out) that I could consider? I would obviously expect to pay more for such a solution.
Thanks in advance,
Jason
