Well the title says it basically but, i would like it to sound different than my Sennheiser hd 650 (for the people who don't know, it is a rather dark sounding headphone) cause i don't want to have 2 headphones which sound the same(ish). btw what do you guys think of the Hifiman RE-400?

Hi dead99,

The RE-400 is going to be VERY different from what you are used to, so much so that I think you might not like it.  It's much brighter and colder than what you're used to, with very tight bass characteristics.  And while I think it is a very good IEM, I would suggest you not swing that far to the opposite end of the spectrum.

Instead, I would advise that you wait a little bit.  There is a new IEM coming out from Fostex called the TE-05.  In contrast to your HD 650, it will sound much more balanced with some astounding clarity and detail.  It's supposed to be out either Q1 or Q2 of 2014, and will be under $200.
