BDA-1 has a more coherent presentation. Better separation between instruments, blacker background, and better soundstage. It does not have that slight bump in the midbass, though, that the ECD-1 has, which makes the ECD-1 so appealing. Also, the ECD-1 has a slightly more forward midrange, which sounds nice, but is also congested. The BDA-1 is just a more refined/smoother presentation.

That said, I can see people preferring the ECD-1. Still a wonderful DAC.

What are your other equipments? and are you running either one balanced?

Wow, that's a great-looking DAC . . . 32 bit Sabre chips, asynchronous, etc. But judging from their claim that it "exemplifies a luxurious lifestyle", I would assume it would be out of many people's price range.
