Well, I just bought the Sennheiser HD555 from Amazon.com for $89.95

Amazon.com: Sennheiser HD-555 Audiophile Headphones: Electronics

Might still be in your price range if you adjust for the standard "Head-fi suggestion inflation"

I'm only just now burning them in and am highly impressed so far.

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD485's that I bought for around $70, and I really enjoy them. It was a tossup between these and the grado sr80's. They were both on par for sound quality, but the Senn's seemed a bit more responsive to my listening style (jazz, blues...). They were considerably more comfortable too.

Get out there and go try out some cans for yourself!

Looking for a nice pair of cans, under $80. What is the best price/quality?

There's two sticky's in the main full size headphone forum answering and giving you so many impressions/opinions etc on this matter. Do some research and come back.
