I'm new to the audiophile world and I am wiling to spend 225-250 dollars.They will be driven by an ipod and  a fiio e6 amplifier. I listen to mostly rock, maybe a little  rap/dubstep. I am upgrading from my grado sr60i's and I love the sound, but my friends dont want to hear the music I'm listening to. So are there any closed headphones that deliver that grado sound for under 250 dollars. Please give a good description why these heaadphones. Also I'm going to be buying these off amazon, so the price has to be off their website

About half a year ago, you could get a nice hd598 for $160. My friend actually got one at this prize. So my answer for this question is: HD598 from half a year ago!!

Beyer DT 770 Pro and Ultrasone HFI 780 are bright like your Grados and have more bass.

Lol, I just upgraded from Grado SR80i's to Beyer DT880 Pro, but I didn't care all that much about open vs closed. The only closed options that looked good were Shure SRH840/940 but I wanted headphones with more robust metal construction, although I would likely have been happy with the 940s for portable use.
 
I don't listen to rap or dubstep, just some heavy metal, industrial, alternative and goth rock and such mostly and some stuff with Cellos and female vocals.
