I am wondering what headphones or earphones are best for baroque/classical music (the kind with voices, lutes, violins, viols, and other stringed instruments). Usually a balanced signature is preferred.

Yes you are correct. You would probably like a neutral sound signature like the Sennheiser HD600 for classical music.

Beyerdynamic 880s are great for classical music, and they come in a nice carrying case.
