I am looking for a more forward sound with the rock music really being in your face and I want the slam of the drums to be heard through the bass. For bass I would prefer a hard controlled slam rather than more of a "rumble" but I like both. These are the headphones I have tried and my comments so far.
TH-900 - Loved the rock presentation even though it is V shaped and I really got into the music but I couldn't listen for very long because it was very fatiguing. After a while I didn't even want to listen to them.
Audioquest Nighthawks - Much smoother than the TH-900 and had the rumble bass instead of the slam bass but it was too laid back and not forward sounding.
Audeze LCD 3 - Loved these things but they are too heavy and the sound presentation was laid back, but I am still not sure if that was a bad thing or not
So I'm looking for
- Forward and engaging sound
- Slam bass (TH-900 did a perfect job of this)
- Open sounstage
- Instrument separation
I appreciate any feedback, thank you.
