So I want over the ear, really comfortable headphones. I have an average sized head, but small ears. Doesn't matter if they're open or closed. What I do want though, is deep, hard hitting, extended bass, forward, rich and lush mids, and smooth, but extended treble. I also want GREAT imaging, and decent soundstage aswell. I also want the most clarity out of this sound signature.

Sorry--can't tell you as I have not heard it.  I have the 1840, 940 & 840.

That is not even a fair or close comparison.  The more neutral, more extended and better in every way (except the 840 is easier to drive) HE-500 blows the little 840 out of the water.
