Hi All!

I'm all new to this site, i stumbled upon it on google while doing some research. The thing is, i want some good headphones this time, while i only have been using Skullcandy's and WESC's headphones.

I've read alot good things about BeyerDynamic's DT 770, but i haven't found anybody who commented on them while listening to hip hop.
So this is my situation:
I like the design and sound on the Beats By Dre, but it's hard to tell good sound when you are used to using skullcandy's etc. I want a headphone which is closed and noise cancelling like the Beats By Dre, but i don't want them if they aren't good, like a read a couple of times here on Head-Fi.
I am going to use the headphones for my iPod and sometimes my computer, only listening to music. The music i listen to is mainly HipHop/Rap and Electronica. Hope some of you can give me a hint..

Hi there and welcome to Head-fi!

First and foremost, do you have an idea of your budget? That's a big factor.

I listen to quite a bit of hiphop and the DT770 are very bassy, almost to the point it overpowers all the other instruments, however as a stepping stone into the audiophile hobby, it's not a bad place at all. But driving it out of an iPod well getting the most out of it will be difficult since it needs at least a bit of juice from what I remember from my time with it.

For hiphop and electronica think Ultrasone. Strong punchy bass, but clear highs and well rounded mids. I'm thinking the HFI series. There is also the D2000 which isn't too shabby either and has some great bass. I've seen the M50s recommended a lot on here and that might be a good place to start considering the price:performance ratio is highly praised. The M50s have great bass as well FWIR. I'll be trying those myself soon.

All these phones at least isolate to some degree.

Here are some links to get you started with some prices to compare. Remember you can always buy used on these forums and sometimes that's not a bad place to go.

If these are out of your budget let me know and we'll downscale to fit how much you're willing to spend.

Try the Senn HD212 pro which is both cheap and has some great bass.Furthermore is a closed phone.
