Ok...good timing, as I'm listening to Judy Garland's Carnegie concert right now on my HD600 phones connected to a Darkvoice 336i amp and Sony DVP-S7000 DVD player. She sounds just dynamite: ever so slightly relaxed and unstrained (unlike Grado phones for instance), full, meaty/beefy, sound that is quick and detailed while being incredibly velvety and engaging. Think of the HD600 for vocals like a nice aged scotch, with something like Grado 225 or AKG K701 more like vodka - each can be high quality, but totally and completely different. As for the AKG K340 - they make Frank Sinatra appear in front of me from the dead and sing live, they are that good. But with female vocals the highs are a tad rolled off/muted, and I have the bass-light version.
