AKG K401 for $99 paired with a good amp will knock your socks off! They also have the detail and accuracy needed to pull lacking dynamics out of old recordings.

I was thinking that the DT770 might be good. What do you guys think ? Would anyone with the DT770 care to state his/her opinion on the subject.

I can't hear for myself since the bloody DT770 are not available here.

Excellent idea. John Lee Hooker will boogie your pants off through the 770 Pros.

Honestly, the 770s convey whatever emotion there is to be conveyed. This is the effect they have, for me at least - and they do this regardless of the musical genre. I think they are great and definitely worth a try.

BOOM BOOM BOOM

JLH is great and I was thinking of his music when I thought about the 770's

. I just don't like buying anything "blind" .

Somehow I knew Tomcat would pop his head up when the 770 are mentioned

Tomcat btw are the 770 picky about the kind of amp you use with them ? Have you tried them with different amps or even stereo jacks?

I am not Tomcat, but I will answer. Yes, they are picky. The better the amp you throw at them, the better they will sound.

I'm Listening to a SL-CT570, RA-1, and RS-1 with John Hammond (Wicked Grin) as I type this. Incredible. The D-25S has too much bass for this recording w/RS1, and the ETY's are just too pure and clean although they're heaven with 95% of everything else I listen to. In case you're wondering the margaritas have NOTHING to do with it!

I hear what you're saying about speakers with blues but it doesn't get much better than this!

hard to find but the sony cd1700 have an amazing way with acoustic music (like old blues) and vocals.

if you really want headphones to give you the blues buy a pair of koss "the plug".

Someone told me musicians friend had them for $99. If you would've gotten here a bit earlier, they were having a big rebate/discount thingy too.. Could've gotten them for even less!
