Hey peeps,

I'm looking for a quality pair of headphones for $250. It can be open or closed, and I want a very balanced sound. I can buy an amp/dac combo, such as the FiiO E17, but prefer not to. I will mainly be using them for rock and the occasional hip hop and dubstep. What are the best options for my needs? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I've been combing through the reviews debating the same question, as I plan to get the same headphones. From the information I've gathered, you should avoid the 32 ohm version. The 250 and 600 should have an amp, but I think they will sound better than the 32's without the amp even. The 600 ohm one is supposed to sound better, with tamed down treble. But I think this difference is pretty minor, and considering you can get the 250 ohm Pro's for a lot less than the 600 ohm premiums, that's probably the best way to go unless you see a deal pop up for the dt880-600's.

There is nothing wrong with the 32 ohm version as I actually owned then before. 250 ohm version is usually cheaper though anyway. You could look into the dt990 too. They have a 250 ohm version that goes about $180-200.

They both good but the dt990 has more bass. Might be better fit for dubstep
