Hi, my question is what kind of headphones are the best for ~$150 (including used pairs that I could buy off of this website)? I play a lot of first person shooters and listen to mostly rock. I will also be using this with Auzentech X-Fi Prelude. I cannot afford to buy an amplifier to go with this, so keep that in mind as well. Right now I am looking at the Audio Technica AD700s. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

EDIT: Ohhh, and I much prefer open headphones to closed ones, so unless the closed ones are a lot better I will stick to the open ones.

The AD700 are great gaming and rock headphones in my opinion. The are very fast, have a great midrange, and smooth but detailed treble. Keep in mind they aren't very bassy though their bass is quick and tight. If you want a bassy open headphone look into the Beyerdynamic DTX800.

Other options you could consider include the Beyerdynamic DT440 and Alessandro MS-1. The MS-1 would be the best of these for rock music but the worst for gaming (lacks soundstage compared to the others).

on ebay and I got Beyer 860 for $115. I love them (but am dreaming of the ad900). I prefer used and broken in. U can get Senn 595.

Since you like rock, can't afford an amp, and like open...
Grado SR225, or the SR125 if you can't afford it, but the SR225 would really be great.

I have the AD700's and a prelude as well. It's pretty damn good for gaming. COD4 sounds good. I played WAR for a month also which was EAX and that was freaking amazing. I'm actually curious to know if the E5 is an improvement. Please update with your thoughts if you get it.

Yeah, my vote is for the AD700s, don't think you can go wrong with them except if you mind the purple and gold colour scheme

Well, it sounds like AD700 is the way to go. I did find that I could afford a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770 (80 ohms) new from stores on ebay. Any thoughts between them and the AD700? Also, what kind of Fiio amp should I be looking at if they are cheap enough to justify getting one? I guess I could Squeeze out like ~40 bucks for an amp if I go with the AD700 considering I can get them for $100 new. So would AD700 and a fiio amp be better than DT770? Thanks for the help so far guys!

If you are a basshead you will probably like the DT770 more... otherwise I think the AD700 is a few levels above the DT770, in soundstage, in mids.
