I have a Shellbrook Mini Head (and a couple other sub $100 amps) and it sounds great -- powerful, spacious, tight rythmic bass, clean mid-upper ranges, smooth, not too bright up top.

Expand your budget by $10 and get a Portaphile X3!

I have the Shellbrook Mini Moy, which is just a precursor to the Mini Head (and it has bigger power supply caps, so nya nya nya

). It does a fantastic job with my HD650.

I also have the PA2V2, which is a great match to low impedance headphones and takes over as primary amp when I'm traveling.

Good amplification is easily obtainable for under $100, especially if you're willing to DIY; you can make a tricked-out CMoy for $70, heh.

The op-amp is supposed to give fairly clear sound, but that amp has awfully short battery life. I asked the vendor and they said a 280mAh 9V gives about 3-4 hours of battery life!

That looks like a nice little amp. I like buffered designs for all my cans. Wonder how well it stacks up against an 18V mint?
