Im using some no name program to play my flac files on my pc. Am i utilizing the lossless audio or am i diminishing it by using software rather than hardware
Decoding is decoding, that task is handled by a processor so the software being used shouldnt really matter so long as its decoding algorithm is correct. The only place you would lose quality if in the DAC (digital to analog converter) in your PC because this is where the 1's and 0's get translated into actual sound

I have jRiver I never use it much, and when I do it crashes :/ [though it's really good for Video]
But yea Foobar has a LOT of options, something you could do is reaserach into getting a Custom Skin for Foo Bar to make it even prettier and a little easier to use
