HI!!!
dt880smile.png

I am looking for my first headphones but I dont know what to choose.
They will be used mainly for hearing metal(alternative, industrial, symphonic, death, progressive, etc.) electronic (house, dubstep, progressive, hardcore, trance, etc.) and for gaming(without mic)
My budget is around 150 - 200 US dollars and I will be using the Fiio E11 portable amp.
I have been considering these:

Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO

Shure SRH840

Sennheiser HD 558

VSonic GR07 MK2

Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10

Thanks!!

The DT 990 pro is bass emphasized, not good for metal to my ears. Shure's are well balanced, some people are not happy with the bass, and the Sennhs are bass light (they do well with Fps games tho) i dont have experience with the other 2 models. Are you open to more suggestions? Which kind of games you like?

And..Welcome to Head-fi

SRH-840 would be the most flexible option from your choices. Closed back and it's portable as well. The sound is good with nothing over emphasized. If going IEM route, then the GR07 from your choices.

add to the list the Pro 550 (not as bassy as the HFI-580) but good soundstage for a closed hp.

The HD595 would be a good start especially for gaming. If you can still mod the 558s to 598s then that would be my pick.
