I have a 500+ CD collection I would like to finally store on a 500GB or bigger external hard drive using Apple iTunes lossless.  I have a iPod 5.5 gen Classic 80GB and a 5th gen 30GB iPod Classic that I use with iTunes now.    
 
My Mac Mini has OS X 10.5.8 on it right now.  What external hard drive brand and model would you recommend I use and please give me any other advice to convert my entire collection of CD's to lossless?

I did search the forum about external hard drives and it seems several people prefer the Seagate brand.  Problem is on the Seagate website they state the external hard drives they make now are compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 and newer only.
