I listen to a lot of rock, some techno and soft rock, I prefer headphones with a nice midrange and very good and detailed vocals. any recommendations?

Under $50, the Koss R/80 are a solid candidate (and will really make you re-think what $30-50 can get you). Under $100, I'm inclined to suggest either the Grado SR-60i or SR-80i (either actually works for the budget and performance, the SR-80 is slightly better and slightly more expensive). The Creative Aurvana Live! and M-Audio Q40 are also reasonable considerations, but may run somewhat over $100 (especially the M-Audio).

I'd personally preference the SR-80 overall, and the R/80 simply because they're about a third of that price and still very good. :)

SR-80..

Check my sig I own pretty much most of the Grado lineup lol. Can't beat 'em for $200 and under. The next can I'd recommend is the Hifiman HE-300 if you want to spend a little more lol.

The Grado SR80i is really my top choice. But its a bit hard to find a dealer/reseller here in our country (and if I find some its a bit overpriced. AND im only a student)  any other recommendations (somewhat brands that are easier to find) e.g Audio-Technica, Sennheiser, AKG

My advise would be to save a bit more...and

KRK KNS 6400 (within budget) or 8400 (stretch)

Ultrasone HFI 780 / Pro 750  (stretch but worth every penny)

Shure 840 ( i think this could work too)

Cheerz !

I like the sound of the ATH-AD700 better than the M50, but the AD700s are open

Im fine if they are open. but how's the sound especially the midrange? are vocals crisp sounding?

They're very clear and precise. Sounds like exactly what you'd want.
