it has a speaker built in sounds pretty decent it also has am fm and short wave and it was under 20 bucks. im useing it for when i kayak or emergencys. its called a Retekess V115

I have that! I bought two, one for myself and another for my father-in-law, as an Xmas gift/stocking stuffer, a couple of years ago. Admittedly I don’t use mine very much (too many other DAPs) but the FiL loves his and uses it almost every day.
