  1. solely for my ultrasone pro 900s (40 ohm), I have no other audio equipment
  2. looking for 24bit/96khz
  3. would be nice if it had a 1/4'' jack for coolness factor, but not necessary
  4. budget $400
  5. thanks for reading. thoughts?

Heya,

Dunno about `best', but here's some suggestions to get the pot stirred.

NFB-12
Maverick TubeMagic D1
Matrix CUBE
Aune MINI
Little Dot DAC I + Little Dot MKI+

Very best,

The Aune looks very interesting, but I've hardly seen anything about this product in the way of reviews.  Got much info on it?

I'll also add the Yulong U100 and Audinst HUD-MX1 to the list.

I'm currently giving all of these a look as well.  I had originally planned for the E17, but since it's not readily available yet I'm taking the extra time to investigate thoroughly.  The idea of a wall-powered and more stationary unit appeals to me.

kinda torn between the iBasso d7 and the 2012 matrix m-stage (with a dac).
not too sure of the difference here. the d7 is $180 and the M-stage is $280.
how important is async usb?
is the d7's dac chip better than the m-stage's for ultrasone's sound sig?
i like the "desktop size" of the m-stage and the 1/4'' plug, but i cant see the point of the extra $100.
can someone enlighten me? oh also, the d7 i've heard has output impedance of <1 while the m-stage has output impedance of 5 ohm, which is 1/8 my headphone imp (40 ohm pro 900's)
sry for my noobness
