Here I have to vote for the Capture the Flag mod for Quake II.  Am I that old?

Haha that was an epic game.
 
However, I'm gonna have to go with CounterStrike before condition zero ruined it for me.
So...CS v1.4~v1.5 ish hehe.

But I am going to admit that the later Left4Dead multiplayer was the most fun I've ever had with friends 4 on 4.
It's a lot less fun with random people.
I can't think of a game that beats 8 friends playing 4v4 L4D at a LAN party.

I'm going to have to say that Battlefield 3 is the best FPS I've ever played and I've been playing for a while. Hopefully Battlefield 4 is even better.

BF3 was really fun in single but as a multiplayer?

Crysis 3 is one of the best multiplayer games i have played in a while.. second only to bf3.

Not much of a surprise - a tie-in between Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 (regardless of incarnation - be it vanilla, CPMA or Quake Live) for me. Haven't played Q2, though. But I kinda prefer Q3A to QuakeWorld.

Zoid killed Quake 3 CTF unfortunately.  CTF was the most fun mod for Quake II in my opinion and the guy stripped out the grapple because he couldn't rail us cats who knew how to use it
