I totally agree!
A pair of electrostatics (ex. Stax SR-202) are imo a perfect complement to the HD650.

My vote goes to 880. The 880 is a little bit brighter then the 650 and the mids are less mellow...but also the RS-1 could be a good choice, RS-1 bass is tighter then 650, very good with rock

I say get the hd650, k701, rs-1, and the ath-w5000 and I did and I don't regret it for a moment.

I'd say begin with the hd650 and k701 but the rs-1 can't be compared to the k701-totally different presentations.

RS-1
Of the choices in your poll, the RS-1 by a long shot.

If you just want something to "compliment" a pair of HD650's, you can do it for a lot less money with a pair of Grado SR80's. In no way will they challenge the HD650's for supremacy, but they are a very interesting cheap can that will make you appreciate the HD650's much more.

The HD650 and RS1 go together great, except they still don't have the pecking order worked out and tussle for #1 occasionally.

Beyer's and AKG701's won't get much headtime in a house with HD650 & RS1 occupants and die of neglect. Not bad cans, but there are only a few listening hours in the day.

I mean out of a real amp - the HEV70 is simply not up to spec.

I'll rephrase - between dynamics and electrostatics, the HD600 and HE60, both with competent amplification, have the closest relative sound signatures.
