Yeah, the DT 770 Pro/80, obviously. Target price in the USA is around $150, apparently. No particular need for an amp, IMO. If the laptop already has poor quality output there's not much point amplifying it (garbage in, garbage out). In that case, you're better off getting an external USB sound module.

I used to use Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro (TBAAM) --> PA2V2 --> DT770

The TBAAM is a USB DAC, in case you didn't know. May be a better option if your laptop sound card is crap and don't want to spend a lot. It can be had for around $20 I believe. You can get the DT770 off ebay from a seller named guitarinsider...something like that. They usually have a "best offer" option. They accepted my offer of $135.

I thought the overall synergy of everything was decent. Nice slam to the bass.

The bass is really low and very nice (almost has that "speaker bass" feeling). Unfortunately, some people complain about the mids. On my setup, the sound is perfectly equalized without any special setup, but this might come from the sound card+amplifier combo...
