just started a new job cleaning up batting cages. i have to use a leaf blower strapped to my back. needless to say, i need some phones capable of blocking it out or at least drop the noise level significantly. i'm trying not to spend a great deal of money. what would you guys suggest?

I think that would be an excellent choice.

THe EX51 IMO is not adequate for isolation purposes.
Better stick to IEMs.

Other than ER6/i if you're planning to buy new, you can look into the Altec Lansing Im616 ($95 amazon). I have yet to hear this one but I used to own the Im716 which IMO has superb SQ and isolation.

I also remember seeing an article from pcmag saying that the reviewer prefer the im616's sound over the ER6i.

People have been having some trouble getting the EP-630 recently, but I understand it's a good choice. Mine (G*d willing) will be in my PO box tomorrow when I check it, and I can post impressions then. From what I understand, it's about even with the more expensive CX300, so it's not an Etymotic but it's a fraction of the price.
