Given that people on this site always push for quality, is anybody else here worried that CD's are headed on their way out?
I just noticed that one of my favorite bands, Dashboard Confessional, seems to no longer be interested in selling CD's. Yes their latest album is being sold on CD but their back catalog seems to slowly be disappearing from stores.
I have also heard that some artists are forgoing the CD format entirely.
There was also a rumor that Apple was discussing shutting down the iTunes store in the next few years.
Personally, having your music collection hosted in the cloud was the only benefit of purchasing through iTunes. You could buy a new device and it would all be there and there was no need to back up your collection.
It seems like the future is streaming and ownership will be a limited option.
