I've heard Best Buy is accepting reservations for the PS3 but there's no info on their website. Are they actually accepting PS3 pre-orders for the November release? If not, do you just wait at Best Buy the day before it comes out? Hoping to get one of the first few...hopefully.

Last thing I heard, there was going to be an average of about 3-4 PS3 per store in North America, come Nov 17th. The whole XBOX craze on day 1 was huge, and there is way less PS3's this time out

It's going to be exactly like the Xbox 360 launch, down to the number of units allocated to the US. Haven't seen any stores that are willing to only pre-sell what they're allocated, so it's going to be a mess.

Remember how expensive it was to buy the 360 when it first came out? It was very difficult, after the preorders were filled, to find one for MSRP or not in some sort of $700 bundle. I can only imagine what the $600 PS3 will be sold for. XBOX 360 and Wii for mii.

He didnt forget any zeroes. They dont have enough to put 30-40 in each store, they only have 500,000 for japan and all of North America on launch.

I dunno, if you think you can get in line early enough to get one of the first 500,000, then go for it. Seems like a waste of time though, a couple months afterwards they will be everywhere.

On launch day, 400k are going to America, 100k to Japan, 0k to Europe. Sony's doing triage due to their lower than expected production rate. In the US, it'll get killed by the Wii and Xbox 360 if launch falls flat, which is why the US gets the bulk of the units. In Japan, initial availability doesn't matter as it's going to succeed there regardless of what Sony does. Europe just gets screwed.

The Xbox 360 had the same numbers, and it wasn't widely available until late winter/early spring.

Wii doesn't have that problem being based on old tech with all the production bugs worked out. It'll easily have double the units available on launch that the Xbox 360 did and the PS3 will.

I have several friends who are on the pre order list at Toys N Joys. They have been on that list since last year when they first started taking pre orders. When they had placed their name and down payment for the Playstation 3, they were told that it wasn't gauranteed that they might receive one when the first shipment arrives due to the low initial production run. So if don't already have one on pre order, you might as well wait it out when more of them are available.

Sony sucks as much as Microsoft (probably more.) I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I dont even think they are going to live up to these already low numbers. They had them higher, then they dropped them to what they have now, and i dont even think they can put that out. Supposedly they are having a lot of trouble getting enough of a certain part of the blue-ray drive.

From what I read last week it was 500,000 for North America alone, which would mean they forgot some zeroes.
