I would like your opinion on the best budget utilitarian DAP. When I say utilitarian I mean no touch screen, no bluetooth etc.etc. Just good construction and good sound. Also, the smaller the better. I don't mind a Chinese brand.

One caveat - it must take at least an 400GB micro sd card.

Check out the Ziku HD X9, built like a tank, 20 hour battery life, no touch screen/bluetooth. I don't think it can take 400 GB microsd card though, specs list it as 128 GB, but I think u can check with the sellers whether it can take larger memory cards.

Just to clarify - I would like a screen but it doesn't have to be touchscreen.

A Sony Walkman without the touchscreen may work for you. The model is entirely up to your budget.
