i have an ipod with a total airhead amp. looking for full sized closing headphones that will produce deep bass. i prefer deep bass as opposed to a real tight bass.

thanks

hd212pro is a closed supraaural, but it do a decent job of isolating (better than sony v6). it have deep bass, alot of midrange so vocal is upfront, the high treble is alittle exagerated, but its not sharp so no ear fatigue. its comfortable as long as you dont have a very big head. (they're easy to drive)

If you could listen to the Sennheiser HD25-1 I'd try them out. They're very easy to drive (with the amp you can use them as speakers

) and have bass in spades (although probably not quite as much as the DT-770's).

dijohn,

i bought the 770/80 Ohm PRO model at guitar center on 14th st in NYC. They were $199.99. I'd imagine they are easier to drive than the 250 Ohms version. I drive them straight out of the ipod with no problem.

my 2 cents.

i have an ipod and found it had a lack of bass frequencies, i fixed it leveling up the volume of the files using EUpod. Not too much, 8 or 9% is good enought.
After doing that i found a bass as i never heard with the ipod. (you know, feeling the waves coming into the ears)
Then my ipods stock headphones started to buzz.
Then i bought my PX200
Then i was happy

Have you tried hte 80 ohm version amped from your IPOD? I have a regular DT 770 and am doubtful that the 80 ohm version would be that much easier to drive. That's not to say that I can't hope.

Yeah, in order to get full bass out of any speaker, you need to match its rated load, or close to it. I am sure the and would agree with harkamus, that an amp would benefit the 770/80s nicely. Perhaps this is the reason the original DT 770s were 600 freaking ohms in the first place...to provide the proper power for the bass reflex.
