what are the main differences between the hiby r6 and r3 besides size? I ordered the pioneer pdx 02u because its small but interested in the r3 also, but I am wondering about the r6 like the build quality.

R6 is running full Android. Imagine your 6.0 smartphone without the phone and you get the picture in terms of UI. Stainless steel if you like something solid, aluminium if you prefer lighter. 3gb ram, snapdragon processor, qc charging. Sublime upper mid fi sound. Whatever other apps you want via play store. R3 is a completely different proposition, it’s not an android dap. Different use cases. I told myself the R3 would be my mobile DAP but it’s not working out that way...R6 sound is too compelling.

so the r3 doesn't have play store but r6 does?

HiBy R6. No contest.
Are you sure?
How about iBasso DX200?
See: https://www.headfonia.com/review-hiby-r6/4/
"Sound? To me, except the stage width, DX200 clearly wins in sound department. It’s only weakness in the market and for the price is the narrow staging. But for every other technical aspect, DX200 wins in my eyes. "
I think this was referencing to DX200+Amp1. To me it means DX200 + Amp8 should be a league higher than Hiby R6.

He wants not too big. DX200 is absolutely massive compared to the R6. But each to their own obviously.

This isn't easy. I think I might asking for too much. Small size streaming long battery...
I see some units use linux base vs android what are the benefits of using either?

Linux will give you higher performance of "native" UI and gives music player developers better options to access hardware directly (fine-tune their player to hardware)
Android will give you more flexibility:
- more software choices (dozen of different music players on Play market)
- ability to install Spotify, Tidal etc.
- I use Android iSyncr that auto-syncs my DX200 with iTunes library on my PC

iBasso DX200 uses both native mode (called Mango) and Android 6.0 so you can switch between them (requires reboot).
Mango gives you a bit better SQ without Spotify and Tidal options etc.

I noticed that Linux players are more affordable and the androids are more expensive. i noticed also that Linux daps seem to have better battery life, I don't know why. its very difficult to decide, I might have bring my budget up to get what I want. does anyone know who makes the smallest android dap?

Can someone post a couple of pics of the hiby r3, hiby r6 and ibasso dx 200 next to a Samsung note 8, this might help me decide.
