Hi there;
I have an old Stax SR-X III with the SRD 7 and I love the sound of it.
However, I would like to have one of those Stax amps, to do away with unplugging and replugging my speakers, since I use my speakerwires at this moment to connect to the SRD 7.
I also would like to switch over to a powered amp for the Stax, so I don't have to use my tube amp everytime I want to listen with my Stax.
And lastly, I was told that the sound of a powered Stax amp is much better than that of a transformer unit.
What I would like to know is: Which amp would be a good match for my old Stax SR-X III without going overboard. And by the way, it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg. Actually, I am looking for a used unit. And what prices do those usually sell?
Thanks
