Hi Head-Fi,

I just got my Sennheiser HD650's and love them, however I do not have a proper amp and dac set up (Currently Fiio E17 and E9).

My budget is flexible but would like to try and keep it under $1,000.

Thanks on advance!!

Schiit Modi 2 Uber and Schiit Valhalla 2. The Valhalla was designed with the HD650s in mind. I love mine with the HD650s.

And, here are some other amp suggestions:

I was looking at the schiit valhalla 2 which is a great buy at $350. I was also looking at the woo audio wa7, which i know is a huge jump in price but was wondering if it is worth it. I forgot to mention i had been using Grado sr225i's for a long time with my fiio e17 and really liked that pairing.

I think i'm going to go with the valhalla 2 and the bitfrost uber for a dac. thanks for all of your help!!

Remember what I said about comparing the more expensive equipment with affordable alternatives? Since you can afford the Bifrost, I strongly suggest getting the Modi 2 as well, along with a device that would enable you to do a volume-matched, rapidly-switching comparison. Some people couldn't hear any difference between them, so it's worth testing out for yourself, if only to save yourself a good deal of money.

At under $1000 another option is a Bottlehead Crack. I pair it with a Yulong D200 and the combo is stunning.
Bottlehead Crack looks like a dinasour next to the Woo Audio 2nd gen WA7 Fireflies amp/dac..well to be fair anything would really...anybody know how the Woo Audio sounds like with the 650?

+1 for the Bottlehead Crack, as it seems to be the number 1 recommended amp with the 650. Valhalla is also a good pick according to a good majority of people
