First post in full-size thread..coming from iems talking on behalf of a non-audiophile cousin of mine.

So my cousin has previously owned beats studios and are looking for an upgrade after listening to my sony xb90ex inears which he proclaims they have more bass than his beats.
Any good full-size cans under 150$ aimed for bass to outperform the beats for half the price?
It would be nice for it to play other frequencies as well.

I think everyone's favorite answer for you would be the Ultrasone HFI-580 (or 780 for a less bassy but more balanced set).

The interesting thing with hifi headphones are the price; they can change dramatically. As of right now, Beyerdynamics DT 990 pro is your best bet ($160 on amazon, I got mine for 240...) if you enjoy a pair of very detailed headphones with a slightly recessed mid, but a wonderful (albeit shallow) soundstage. However, getting the 250ohms version might require an amp depending on your outputs.

Anyone have thoughts on the m50? Its well recgonized here but im wondering if there are better options for same/less money
