I'm looking for advice on the best tubes to try for this match-up. My amp is a Rudistor RP 5.1 hybrid amp which uses two 6922's in its preamp stage. Any obvious matches from experience of 6922's and Grado RS-1's?

Thanks for your help with this!

If you think you need a bit more melow sound while retaining great bass, clarity and dynamics - try the Russian 6H23N-EBs. You'll be quite pleased - especially with the RS-1s.

Some have wrote that pre-1975 JAN Phillips Sylvania 6922 tubes are good; avoid later issue. The 1986 JAN Phillips 6922 tube that came with my amp turned out to be shorted!

You can literally go nuts reading about gold pinned E88CC; the ECC88; E188CC; the 6DJ8's and even PCC88/7DJ8; fancy European variations, etc.

The 6DJ8 can be noisy.

Read some of the posts and decide for yourself. The JJ E88CC (gold pin) or ECC88 (steel pin) are supposed to be real good.

The problem I have with using cold war era Russian tubes is that the test data is not available for my tester.

Make SURE that whatever variation you want to use is compatible with your circuit!

Siemens CCa of Valvo CCa.

Read about it.

I've tried several pairs of 7308, 6922, E88CC and CCa in my Melos and Siemens CCa are just the best out there. (I'm selling some pair if interested, i have too much extras).

There was an article somewhere about 6922 tubes.
