I just got a 1st gen iPhone and thought you guys could help me choose the right one. With so many threads containing "iPhone" and "adapter" I was having trouble swimming through the search results.

Depends, what earphones/headphones are you going to use?
I bought a generic, and the left channel died within 2 days

I'll be using KSC35's, Marshmallows, maybe K 81 DJ's.

I went with the Monster Cable iCableLink. Sure it's not Nordost or anything, but it will definitely work and it's under $10.

Does anyone on head-fi (or another board) make a custom, or hand-built, adapter? I'd rather buy one of those if available.

x2. either that or widen the iphone's recess with a dremel.
