Does anyone have any opinions on the best $100 or less portable headphone I can use on airplane flights?
I prefer on-ear due to smaller size, but will consider over-ear if they are compact.
 
I not a bass head, and prefer clean, detailed and crisp sounding headphones that are true to the music being played.

you will have to use an in-ear for flights . I am unaware of any on-ears giving such high amount of isolation

I don't think UE4000 will isolates that well. UE6000 has noise cancelling, however they are $200.
 
For $100, IEM is the only way to go IMO if u want isolation+sound quality.
As someone mentioned above, i suggest SE215 and HF5 as well.
For maximum isolation, get the Comply P Series Tips.

Haven't compared them to the UEs but I love my Aurvana X-Fi phones for flying.  They compare very favorably with BOSE offerings.
