So I was in the middle of my annual "It's a Wonderful Life" viewing when I think I had an Aha! moment.

Did anyone notice that the taxi cab driver is Ernie and his friend, the cop is Bert? Do you think that is where Sesame Street got the name of the roomies?

Anyway, you should see the pervert German version "Bernie und Ert" (www.rtl.de/comedy/fnn/680545.html)!

Thanks Gregor - it seems like it has to be more than a coincidence though, I mean the movie was made in the 30's or something and the names had to have been in the public lexicon for decades.

I was watching an old war documentary, and I saw a sign near a tent that said "Capt. James T. Kirk". coincidence? maybe not, one of the other two names listed was for another Star trek member, though I can't recall the name, It may have been Montgomery Scott.
