Hello,

I would like to know what you guys think about the Behringer u control UCA 222 DAC/Audio interface.

Is it good for what it costs?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Not particularly. They are limited to 48khz which is very low for today's dac offerings. Often the chip used for usb limits the device to 96khz so low end dacs with that limit are pretty common (Fiio e7/17, Hifimediy etc). If I were interested in a low end usb attached dac for computer audio I think I would look very seriously at the Schiit Fulla2, the Hifimediy Sabre, or the Fiio e10k. All of those support at least 24/96 instead of being limited to 16/48.

Hmm, alright. i gonna give those DACs you named a look. But is a higher bit rate and a higher samplerate even needed when most of my music is CD standard quality (16 bit/ 44,1kHz)?

If all of your music is 16/44 you don't need a DAC capable of bit rates other than 16/44 from a technical perspective. If however you were to ever get a hold of a 24/96 file, a 16/44 only would force down-conversion of the file to 16/44 in order to play it. Yes it would still play, but it could introduce artifacts from the conversion process that are audible. Think of buying any of the DACs I mentioned as future proofing. Most everything you have may be 16/44 and 320bit Mp3 now, but more and more of the streaming and music download sites are adopting 24/96 and it may well be that the higher bit rates are more common some day in the near future.
