what would a good true tube headphone amp project be that has a layout, kit or something. I've built a few hybrid amps but the most I've done is 12 volt supplies. I'd like to move away from that and make a desktop amp with more serious plate voltage.

not really a beginner project, but you could look into building a Bijou from cavalli audio. glassjar audio sells a kit

Can't go wrong with building the Bijou for it has everything going for it.  Complicated enough to keep your interest, looks good, many options for tube rolling & tweaks, excellent thread in the DIY forum and sounds like a big money amp.

I've been pondering over this. I am a newbie going for low voltage tube hp amps for the time being. what are the advantages of going for high voltage tubes over low voltage ones.
