Hello everyone,
Lemme preface this by saying that i've tried searching topics, and read a fair number of threads regarding these highly controversial headphones.
Yes, i'm aware that they are quite the opposite to being well-regarded around here, but I actually simply had a question regarding the build quality of them.
The gf got them for me for christmas, and since I pretty much only listen to hip-hop, i'm very happy with the high levels of bass, and actually enjoy using them. I like them, to put it simply.
However, after less than a week of using them around 3 times, the right headphone starting to cut in and out, with distortion and static. I just returned them then, and figured it may be due to the controltalk on the right hand cable being heavy, and pulling down on the cable from the headphone causing there to be problems with the connection between the cable and the headphone driver(?) itself.
I got the tour's without the controltalk due to this suspicion, but i really miss having it there.
I guess i'm extra paranoid due to the fact that a simple google search of "beats by dre tour review" results in a myriad of reviews from owners all saying their headphones died on them, with one earphone either having stopped working completely, or starting to cut in/out and distort like mine did, with many of them reporting time spans of 1 week - 1 month.
I was just curious if this was a well-documented issue, and that they have absolutely atrocious build quality, or is it all false?
I'm worried because obviously since they were a gift, they do carry sentimental value, and i don't want them to not even last a year, or last a year then break down outside of warranty.
Edit: And yes, I'm aware that if I wanted high quality headphones i could've done much better for the same price, but as I said, i really like the sound of them, they look great, and monster/dr. dre have brainwashed me in my sleep, so what can i do
