Audio Technica M50, Denon D1001 - No amp needed for either.

You might also consider the Sennheiser HD25-1-II; it doesn't require an amp but benefits from one.

Similarly, the Beyerdynamic DT770 can be had in your price range, particularly in the used market. Depending on the impedance of the can, they can vary from benefiting from an amp to requiring an amp (32 ohm doesn't require an amp, 600 ohm absolutely does).

EDIT: As far as I'm aware, the Turbines have much more bass than any of the other phones discussed here. I think the full size headphones in your price range outperform the comparable IEM's with regards to sound quality, but that's just my opinion.

I'll second the ATH-M50's
They are suppose to have plenty of bass.

There is also the Denon D1001 and Creative Aurvana Live!

Yup... ATH m50 for the money and what you want in bass. Monster Turbines are very good IMO.

ath-m50s are a great phone, not 1 first time listener has ever dis-liked them when sharing mine to everyday normal non head-fi people. as for monster dre beats....they sounded like they could be good on the best buy rig, but they are definately not worth double the price of the M50s. no amp required for M50s, if you want a lil bit more bass thump then an amp will give u that, but u should be happy without one.

Beats is good? No way! I tried it serveral times in a local BestBuy and I can say for sure they can never be good w/ whatever rig, especially for the ridiculous price tag of $299.

M50, on the other hand, is a very good phone. And I don't know if you can get such a good bass from any other $80 phone.

Ive used the M50s and the beats straight from an ipod, though not on the same day, I could definitely tell the m50s were superior they had much better detail and a good sounding very present bass , the beats had bloated type of bass and not as good presentation of the rest of the of the music
