I recently watched Across the Universe, and for the most part, I thought the songs were done pretty well. Well..I thought the vocals were done well; the instruments, not so much. I also have the I Am Sam soundtrack and I Got No Kick Against Modern Jazz. The like the former; the latter, not so much. Are there any other good Beatles tribute albums out there?

Also, who's waiting with bated breath for 90/09/09?

I have "This Bird Has Flown: A 40th Anniversary Tribute to The Beatles Rubber Soul"
It's a little strange, but I enjoy it in moderation.

A Beatlesish tribute is "Working Class Hero: A Tribute to John Lennon"
I like that one. Especially the "Working Class Hero" track by Screaming Trees.

I also have The Beatles "LOVE". I consider that to be a tribute album. I love how it is put together, especially how the tracks flow together. But the mastering is just tooo loud. Not pleasant to listen to on headphones. I really really hope that the new Beatles masters on 09/09/09 are not mastered loud like that. I'm not holding out optimistic hope on that. I expect to be disappointed.

Goodness no!

Hyper Beatles- soloist Aki Takahashi plays elegant advant garde piano arrangements of Beatles songs

Let It Be- The infamous Serbian conceptual-metal masters produce their track-by-track tribute.

The unsurpassed classic, "The Beatles Medley" on LSD C&W- Eugene's epic descent into the psychedelic maelstrom of pop classicism and distortion-infused redneck ranting. With John Zorn on sax. It's the Beatles as they should have been, if they had grown-up irate in a trailer in Durham, N.C. Indeed, this rare '87 two album set is full of unforgettable performances. The cover of "Wild Horses" punctuated with the rattle of toy machine guns is not to be missed.

It's not a tribute band, but check out the Apples in Stereo. They sound frighteningly like the Beatles and I'm sure you'd appreciate their work. The two albums to start with are "Tone Soul Evolution" (like the early Beatles) and "Her Wallpaper Reverie" (psychedelic Beatles). And if you enjoy those, stick your head inside the Elephant 6 collective. Hope this doesn't derail the thread, but I think you'd enjoy those.
