I need a recommendation on a new pair of headphones. What I want:

Closed, circumaural

Good isolation

Foldable, if possible

Detachable cable, if possible

Good looks

But most importantly, I want that bass! When I listen to techno songs on these headphones, I want to feel like I'm getting punched in the side of the head! These will probably be run unamped from my zune, both in the house and on the plane, in the office, etc.

Price is <$300

And yes, I have tried using the search function.

Thanks!

fine...XB1000 with ZO2

I've listened to the 500, 700 and 1000 and the 500 is the bassiest out of all the XB series.

i think ZO2+XB500=BASSSSSSSSSSS

EDIT: haven't actually tried it though, not with a ZO2....i wouldn't even be brave enough

Haha all the headphones in that sony series look like monsters.

I read some reviews and I don't think they are for me. I know I said I want dat bass, but apparently those are just crazy large drivers without a leash. Sound quality counts too!

Maybe I should give some pairs I've considered, and you could provide alternatives:

HFI780
HD25-1 (I know, they are supraaural)
DT770
M50 (not quite a basshead pair)

I have the HFI-780s, and the M50s, and I feel that unamped the M50s have more bass quantity than the 780s...and while both have plenty of bass for me, if you

Want to feel like I'm getting punched in the side of the head!

I don't think that either of these are what you are looking for.

While I have not personally listened to them them, I hear that the HFI-580s are more bassy than the 780s are.....

Just get the XB500. Nothing comes close to that bass. Seriously. Especially since you're not amping.

This is going to sound really superficial, especially on a site like Head-Fi, but those sony headphones just look ugly. I'm gonna wear these in public a lot, and frankly I don't want to be seen with those on. Perhaps I should have added aesthetic on my list of wants.

Sorry

EDIT: I'm leaning towards the M50's, any good alternatives?

The M50s also look silly in public, they're quite big.

If you can find the Audio Technica ES7, those look AMAZING, have plenty of bass (like mini M50s), and will attract attention. They are on ear though and comfort is an issue.

Hfi780 is more refined with a better soundstage. I find overal SQ much better concerning Hfi780. Even Hfi580 is better, with plenty of punchy bass.

On ear is not an option.
