bass, middle and treble

From 20hz-250hz is bass, from 250hz to 6000hz is midrange, and from 6000hz-20,000hz is treble. However most genres of music, other than jazz or classical, won't contain any meaningful frequencies below about 40hz and above 16khz. Of course it depends on your ears as to how well you can hear the highest frequencies and also what you're listening on, most consumer mini systems give up below 120hz and above 12khz.

Heres how I hear it...
20-40Hz = Sub-bass
40-180Hz = Bass
180-400Hz = Midbass
400-1000Hz = Midrange
1000-5000Hz = Upper midrange
5000-20000Hz = Treble

So many ways to measure.

The treble clef is centered about G4: ~392 Hz
The alto clef is centered about C4: ~277 Hz
The Bass clef, about F3: ~174 Hz.

3- Way crossovers in the Part Express Catalog define the low end of midrange as 375--800Hz, and the high end as 3--5 KHz. But then, this is a headphone forum. Most cans are "1 way".

but what I dont understand is that an e-guitar plays from 82.4 Hz to 880 Hz. (low E string to 17 fret high E string). this means that it cant play treble. but every guitar amp has also a treble knob to adjust treble. what is this good for?
what instruments can play treble and can the human voice come near to this?

Don't forget that a guitar isn't a pure sine-wave generator. Those frequencies will contain harmonics that extend up into the treble range.
And the treble knob will be adjusting the harmonics/timbre.
