Has anyone done bass measurements on thier phones using test tones? I recently bought the ATH-W1000 - love 'em by the way (after 25+ hours) - but I don't get bass below the 40s... No big deal for most music, but I wonder if any other phones get much lower....

I'm personally interested in the Sen 650s and other Audio Technica phones, but any other impressions are appreciated!

I haven't heard the W1000's but I have the W2002's and the L3000's. The W2002 are rather light in the bass but the L3000s are pretty well balanced. I would think that the 650s would also qualify as well balanced.

Give them more time, these diaphragms must be still stiff, once they get more relaxed they will reproduce the bass better and better...Just let them play bass heavy music for about 200 hours...

Yup, heard some 20hz on hd595, heard more volume on hd650 and feel some on hfi550.

Used 20-30-40-60-100 hz tones recorded from pc for bass burn-in.

If you want to burn in with tones of 20hz etc... you can look for Audiere 1.9.3. It is a freeware open source, which can generate tones (from 1 to 30000hz), white noice, pink noice, squre waves. Maybe there is a new version. Maybe.
But this version is still a very good one ! Tones and noices don't change !
