Is it just me, or does it need to be amped (properly) so the bass comes out. Have other people noticed that with some sources (a regular iPod seems fine)? Thanks.

It sounds to me that bass is missing. I probably need an amp, right? My portable is clean and clear when used with speaker systems, even better than some stereos (really). Maybe I am just answering my own question?

Some Amps will provide some support for the bass, however the HD555s have notoriously low bass to begin with FWIR. Maybe someone else can comment who has used these headphones for longer.
