The bass of the DT770/80 Pro is sometimes too much for me.
Do the Denon D2000 have a better/lighter/tighter bass?
Or are they more or less the same in handling the bass.
I'm still hesitating on the Denons, because they are so damn expensive in Europe. And because of the poor build, I don't have the nerve to import them from the USA.
Most of the US retailers won't even ship them to Europe anyway.

Now come on, I know there are some of you who own both.
I really would like to know your opinion.
Thanks in advance.

I can only answer you in one offs in both directions. I have a DT770 pro, but it's 250 ohms. And I have a D5000. However, for these cans I can tell you that the difference in actual base quantity is relatively slight. There is slightely more in the DT770, and it's better controlled in the D5000. In general I would say that the bass in the D5000 is clearly superior. But I've never heard a DT770/80, so I don't know about that.

EDIT: I should also point out that I'm currently running both out of a Total Airhead, so the bass in one or both may not be at it's fullest.

The DT770 has more bass, with less quality. It's not very controlled and detailed. You should try the DT880.

I need a closed headphone....

i do not own the d2000 but have only heard it in demos in store. it is better controlled but im not sure it is really worth it. cute looking but quite horrid build quality if you are used to the beyerdynammic. it is quite opposite really.

if the 2000 or any phone for that matter was made as well and modularly as the dt series, i might choose them but the price for me is not worth the sound. it is a bit more mellow phone and im not into that as i like trance.

if you don't like the bass on the dt770 you can tone it down with something covering the air input vent near the headband arm screws. i think trowert discussed this a couple of years ago

I've tried both.

The DT770-80 has more bass. On similar sounding music(Rap/Hip-Hop) the Denon's got a "Wow that's a thump" from me. The DT770-80 got a "I need to take these headphones off, somebody put a subwoofer next to my head".

The bass is also more present in the D2000(everything seems to have a smooth sheen of bass), but there is less of it. And yes it is more controlled.
