ATH-FC7, and with the mod to move it a bit further away from your ears, makes it a great SR60 contender. Some of you looking for a portable big sounding headphone should check out ATH-FC7s.

Get some non-slip cabinet mats (you can get these at HomeDepot or WalMart). These are the mats that you place in your kitchen cabs so your dishes don't slide around... Cut it to the same dimensions as your headphones, cut the center out, and place under the ear pads on your FC7. It moves the drivers away from your ears a bit, and really tones down the midbass. Turning the FC7 from a mediocre headphone to SR60 status. It's still in your face, but man do these things jam.

The two pr. of headphones I've bought in this price range are both very impressive. The JVC HA990, and Grado SR-60.

Sounds pretty damn good.
How much of the center do you cut out?

enough so it doesn't cover the drivers, I just matched the size of the driver and cut accordingly.
