Innovative B&O PLAY interface and design takes wireless headphones to the next level

For a long time wireless headphones with Active Noise Cancellation have been big, clumsy and short of battery lifetime. For the first time Danish design and sound aficionado, B&O PLAY by BANG & OLUFSEN lets you enjoy true wireless freedom with an innovative aluminium touch interface, active noise cancellation and up to 14 hours of battery lifetime all wrapped in a sleek, lightweight design.

Introducing the BeoPlay H8 on-ear headphones from B&O PLAY by BANG & OLUFSEN. With simple intuitive gestures on the innovative aluminium clad ear cup, you have complete control over the headphone. Just tap and swipe to do whatever commands needed whether it is answering calls, volume control, track selection or activating the Active Noise Cancellation. Even if you turn the Active Noise Cancellation on or off because of the surrounding noise or you choose to wear your BeoPlay H8 wireless for more freedom or with a cable to save the battery the sound is crisp, clean and fuelled by a passion that will have you discover all the fine details your music has to offer.

Available in Gray Hazel and Argilla Bright colors and crafted from premium materials such as anodised aluminium, cowhide leather and smooth lambskin BeoPlay H8 is a headphone that will patinate with beauty and have people turn their heads. The battery lifetime is up to an astonishing 14 hours and despite of all its advanced technology and aluminium structure BeoPlay H8 only weighs a modest 255g - making it a perfect travel companion no matter if you are commuting, cruising or just hanging out.

“With BeoPlay H8 we have taken decades of craftsmanship and innovation and distilled that into one truly amazing product that highlights the B&O PLAY virtues,” says Henrik Taudorf Lorensen, Head of B&O PLAY, and continues, “it is technologically advanced featuring Active Noise Cancellation, Bluetooth 4.0 and an aluminium touch interface never seen before. Combined with the acclaimed Bang & Olufsen Signature Sound, premium materials and the low weight it is not just another headphone on the market, it is simply one the best product of its kind.”

  1. Intuitive aluminium touch interface
Want to answer or end a call? Want to change songs or adjust the volume? Want to turn the Active Noise Cancellation on or off? Everything can be controlled by gently touching the intuitive touch interface placed on the right ear cup of the headphones – it even works with your gloves on.

  1. Active Noise Cancellation for music lovers
Whether the Active Noise Cancellation is turned on or off you will always enjoy pristine Bang & Olufsen Signature Sound from BeoPlay H8 and experience music the way the artists intended it.

  1. Long playtime with rechargeable and replaceable battery
The battery inside BeoPlay H8 gives you up to a whopping 14 hours of playtime even with the noise cancellation turned on. This should give you enough playtime for most long haul flights but if you run out of battery, you just plug in your audio cord or change the battery in a snap.

  1. One of the lightest Active Noise Cancellation headphones on the market
Weighing only 255 gram BeoPlay H8 is a pleasure to wear for even extended periods of time and one of the lightest Active Noise Cancellation headphones in the world.

BeoPlay H8 is designed by the award-winning Danish industrial designer Jakob Wagner: “With BeoPlay H8 we have made something complex simple and easy to use,” says Jakob Wagner and continues “it has been a focus of ours to use the right materials in an intelligent way, so you can concentrate on the listening experience while enjoying intuitive usability.”

I really like the look on these, do you know what it means though answer calls? I am assuming it can't have a mic so you still need to take them off and take the call on your phone? Or does one of the provided cables have the mic?

I get a pair of h6 and after 5 days I saw the announcements off h8. I was crying :) I'm sportsman and freedom is important for me. Same the design. Look at other wireless option . The only one, that come close to h8 are parrot zik 2 in term off technology but dam are ugly. If I know that h8 was coming I cancel the h6 and buy a,over ear h8 and a Bluetooth in ear one for sport and gym . Anyway if battery die h8 still working or no? And again anyway I'm not unhappy with my h6 . Sound are gorgeous and super comfy to wear them how long you want

Hi vrapan,

They actually have a microphone built-in to the side of the earcup for answering calls, so this can be done wirelessly.

Hi danielcalutul,

Glad to hear you're enjoying your H6 headphones - they really are a great sounding product.  In regards to your question about the H8's battery - once the battery dies, you can continue using them by connecting the wire and hard-wiring them to the source, or you can simply pop out the battery and put in a spare charged battery if you like.

Anyone know the exact release date for these in the US? I got the H6 which I'm really liking but if the H8 sounds like the H6 with bluetooth then I'd rather return the H6 and pay a bit more for the H8.

I just bought mine today in NY; they got them yesterday; call the Madison Ave store; absolutely wonderful.

Thanks for
Thanks for the heads up. Can you give any more impressions? :)

Sound is better from the H6. More clarity and bass. They are on ear headphones. Smaller than the H6 which is good. Noise cancellation is excellent as well as the battery. I am very happy. After owning the H2 and H6, these are the best. Now I want to sell the H6 and H2 after less than a month of use. I will keep the H8 as my main ones.

Got these too. Love them, the SQ and comfort are amazing. BUT one issue I'm having is that they disconnect with my iphone every time I switch them off. So when I turn them on again I have to go in to settings, click on their icon and connect them.

Every other bluetooth headset I've had was smart enough to automatically connect to the iphone when turned on.

asnyc75, have you experienced the same issue? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, it seems weird they would have messed something that simple on such expensive headphones.

But other than that, again they're awesome.

Hi tdx
You have to turn on bluetooth every time as well, then it will also connect automatically. The sliding button has three positions. OFF - ON - Bluetooth ON (by holding 2 sec in bluetooth ON you bring it to pairing mode). So it is not enough just to put it in the middle position. You have to also activate bluetooth. It may seem a bit stupid but in this way you can turn it on in Flightmode not activating bluetooth every time you just want to listen via cable but still use noise cancelling - which never happens daily for most of us. But I guess this was made with frequent flyers in mind.
