Hey,

I see alot of people talking about "balancing" headphones. What is that? And how is it done? I did a search but didn't really see anything that explained what it is or why you would do it.

Could someone please explain what it is and why someone would do it.

Thanks,
-Atomic

Did you search the amps forum? There are many threads, however as it has almost nothing to do with the headphones (just replacing a cable) and everything to do with the amp, the amps forum is the place to go. And beware, doing it usually results in the loss of thousands of dollars from your wallet...

Balanced operation for headphones requires a balanced source, amp, and headphone. The headphones being balanced by themselves isn't all that complex, though; usually it involves either a 4-pin XLR plug, or two 3-pins XLRs.

But what is the concept exactly?

Is it just finding matching combo's of sources, amps and hps? I still don't get it, sorry.
